What a crazy couple weeks! While enjoying a nice spring break, I practiced Illustrator more and ended up with a couple neat “cartoonified” drawings for the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.
Neil Armstrong’s outer helmet during the Apollo 11 mission was the first; I had originally envisioned the reflections of Buzz Aldrin saluting the American flag on the lunar surface illustrated onto the shape of the transparent face shield. I ran into some troubles and decided to ditch the reflection idea. Instead, I traced the orbital path during the mission while the crew used the Earth’s orbit to slingshot themselves on a trajectory towards the Moon.
I’ve worked with Photoshop as well for an edited self-portrait. I decided to attempt a double exposure effect with the Baltimore skyline partially on top of my head. I was happy with the results, but I would do it differently next time. It was a fun project to work on, but I definitely had much more fun in Illustrator working on the Smithsonian poster.
Great content! Super high-quality! Keep it up! 🙂
